Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about procedures, insurance and your visit.

General

What is interventional radiology?

Image-guided treatment through a small puncture instead of a surgical incision.

Do I need a referral?

Usually not. Some Medicare Advantage and HMO plans do — call and we'll check.

Is it painful?

We use local anaesthetic and light sedation. Most people feel pressure, not pain.

Leg & vascular

How long is recovery?

Most patients go home the same day and resume light activity within a few days.

Can an amputation be avoided?

Often, if blood flow is restored in time. Ask for a second opinion first.

How long does a stent last?

It's permanent, but arteries can re-narrow; follow-up checks catch it early.

Women's health

Will UFE keep my uterus?

Yes. It shrinks fibroids without removing the uterus.

How long is UFE recovery?

About 1–2 weeks for most women.

Can I get pregnant after UFE?

It's possible; if you want a future pregnancy, we'll discuss all options.
